Description
New York's Steel Mountain to Climb by Regina Geoghan. A vertical format view of a section of the public park area of Hudson Yards NYC and the Hudson Yards Vessel interactive structure. The Hudson Yards Redevelopment Project is the largest scale construction project in NYC since Rockefeller Center was designed and constructed in the 1930's. Located on the west side of midtown Manhattan, the project covers multiple blocks and will hold 17 skyscrapers, a school, a performing arts area, over 100 retail shops, restaurants. The centerpiece in the public park area is a 16 story climbable structure named "The Vessel" with over 100 sets of stairs. Much of the project is built on a platform over railway yeards. In this view, you can see some of the levels of construction including the rail yards at the base, the Vessel and park and behind that, the bright lights of the retail shops that form the lower levels of a high rise building. Viewed from across the Hudson River in New Jersey. Take a close look to see the people at the top of the structure is get a sense of the scale of it.
